Our fabulous delegation to WorldMUN 2012: Vancouver has done it again! With eleven of the fourteen members earning the coveted diplomacy awards, W&M placed among the top few schools in the world! While the unofficial rankings have yet to be tallied, past years with this ratio have resulted in a second place for the large delegation category.
WorldMUN is truly a group effort. Our delegates trained hard, helping each other to prepare and supporting one another from position assignments all the way through to the glorious end. Many thanks are also due to the numerous members of the Club and W&M community who lent their expertise and talent to numerous training sessions. MUN is a team sport of the highest caliber, and W&M lacks nothing in team spirit.
Congratulations also to all of the universities who participated! These delegations are always a pleasure to work with. It is these friendships and good feelings that WorldMUN strives and succeeds to create.
Until next year, WorldMUN. It has been an amazing experience for all who attended and everyone at home in Williamsburg should be thanked for their assistance. Congratulations delegates!
After three years of planning and deliberation, the Club has approved of the creation of a College Conference to be called &MUN (pronounced “and-mun”), using the famous ampersand from W&M. Via an open application, the &MUN Selection Committee recommended and the Board approved Connor Smith as the first Secretary-General, effective immediately. Congratulations!
Much work lies ahead, including the creation of websites, emails, logos, and the selection of a Secretariat. In the meantime, a temporary page has been set up here with basic details of the April 2013 conference.
Congratulations to Jessie Ede on her selection as the Secretary General of the 11th Annual WMIDMUN Conference! Jessie will be leading a secretariat in planning WMIDMUN XI over the next 11 months. The date of the conference will be announced shortly: pay attention to www.wmidmun.org for more information!
The Club is busy this weekend with the 10th annual William & Mary Middle School Model United Nations Conference (WMIDMUN X). The Secretariat has an active twitter going this weekend @WMIDMUNX as does the club @WM_IRClub with plenty of photos! Over 600 middle schoolers from around the country are present for this extraordinary conference.
Now, we all know that our Model UN team is one of the best in the world. Placing second at WorldMUN last year, we’re only looking to improve. We’ve been to two conferences this semester, one hosted by Columbia (CMUNNY) and one hosted by Georgetown (NCSC). Needless to say, both were huge successes!
Sending a delegation of 20 to CMUNNY, William and Mary didn’t disappoint, with 12 delegates getting awards. Winner, winner, chicken dinner.
To make things more impressive, we sent a delegation of 40 students to NCSC, our training conference for the year. With more than half of the group as freshman and almost 2/3 first-time college MUNers, it was quite the experience, and everyone seemed to learn lots. We represented well, and we even hosted an alumni event! What a life.
Yes, dear IRCers, the rumors are true.

CMUNNY is set for October 7-10, the weekend of fall break, and
NCSC is set for October 28-31, Halloween weekend. They both promise to be incredibly fun, so fill out those applications!
Also, keep in mind – CMUNNY does not have many spots, so people who are interested in going to CMUNNY but also willing to go to NCSC should apply for both and then explain their preferences in the room provided.
